Stevenson
Stevenson Dam is a conventional hydroelectric plant with four operating generating units and a combined nameplate capacity of 30.5 MW in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The plant sits on the Housatonic River at the boundary of Monroe and Oxford, where its dam impounds Lake Zoar, one of the state's largest lakes. Construction began in 1917 and the plant entered service in 1919 under a predecessor of what is now Eversource, with a fourth turbine added later to reach today's capacity. Stevenson is one of five developments of the Housatonic River Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. 2576), whose license was transferred in 2019 to FirstLight CT Housatonic LLC, part of the FirstLight Power portfolio that operates the plant. The project operates under a 40-year FERC license, with its shoreline management plan dating to 2013 and periodically updated since.
