Tatanka Wind Power LLC is a 180 MW onshore wind turbine plant in Dickey County. Tatanka is a 180 MW wind farm in Dickey and McIntosh counties, North Dakota, extending into McPherson County, South Dakota. Owned by Acciona through Acciona Wind Energy USA, it began commercial operations in July 2008 with 120 Acciona 1.5 MW turbines, 61 of them in North Dakota. A project substation and 13 miles of 230 kV line connect to the Montana-Dakota Utilities system under a 2005 MISO interconnection agreement. Tatanka sells as a merchant generator in MISO.
