Woodward Energy Storage
Woodward Energy Storage, LLC - Woodward County - SPP
Woodward Energy Storage is a 40-megawatt, four-hour battery energy storage facility in Woodward County, Oklahoma, operated by Woodward Energy Storage, LLC. The grid-scale system is co-located with an existing wind facility, shares its interconnection infrastructure at the FPL Windfarm 138 kV Substation, and connects to the SPP transmission network through Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company's transmission system. The facility can charge from the grid or the adjacent wind facility during periods of surplus generation and discharge stored energy during peak demand periods to enhance grid flexibility, resilience, and reliability. Developed in collaboration with a NextEra Energy Resources subsidiary, it is OMPA's first grid-scale energy-storage asset and is expected to generate more than $8.8 million in local tax revenue over its lifetime.
