MISO publishes point forecasts with no confidence interval. The footprint spans two weather regimes, so errors cluster when a front moves through the middle of the market — the north and south can miss in opposite directions at once.
MISO runs the grid across all or part of fifteen states and Manitoba — the widest north-south footprint of any US market. This page plots MISO's published medium-term load forecast against the five-minute realized demand feed, then breaks the forecast out across the ten local resource zones, from Zone 1 in Minnesota and the Dakotas down to Zone 9 in Louisiana.
MISO's footprint peaks twice: summer air-conditioning load across the whole system, and winter heating load that hits the South hardest. The north-south transmission ties that knit the market together are chronically constrained, so where the demand lands matters as much as how much there is — which is what the zone breakdown shows.

It is MISO's projection of electricity demand across its fifteen-state footprint, published for the system and for each of the ten local resource zones. MISO commits generation against it; this page plots it against what actually settled so the forecast's track record is visible.
System peaks run roughly 120 GW in summer — second only to PJM among US markets. The zone table splits that across the footprint: the industrial Midwest zones carry the biggest blocks, while the southern zones drive the winter peak.
Ten planning zones MISO uses for resource adequacy, numbered from Zone 1 (Minnesota and the Dakotas) through Zone 10 (Mississippi). They are the granularity at which MISO publishes zonal demand forecasts, so they are the breakdown this page shows.
