Comerford
Comerford is a conventional hydroelectric plant with four generating units on the Connecticut River in Grafton County, New Hampshire, rated at about 167.8 MW nameplate capacity. The dam, on the border of Monroe, New Hampshire and Barnet, Vermont, is part of the three-dam Fifteen Mile Falls Hydroelectric Project along with the Moore and McIndoes developments. Built in 1928-1931, Comerford was New England's largest hydroelectric development when President Herbert Hoover remotely started it on September 30, 1930. Great River Hydro, LLC operates the station under FERC License No. P-2077, issued April 8, 2002 and set to expire March 31, 2042. Great River Hydro was acquired in 2022 by HQI US Holding LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, from affiliates of ArcLight Capital Partners, with Great River Hydro continuing to run the plant as a distinct operating entity.
