Core Scientific's Cottonwood 1 & 2 campus near Pecos, on FM 2119, covers 100 acres with 125,000 square feet. About 300 MW of gross power capacity from Texas-New Mexico Power was in use for bitcoin mining in April 2026 while Core Scientific converts the campus to AI data halls. Core Scientific has contracted another 300 MW of gross capacity with the utility and secured more than 200 acres for expansion. The first data hall is under construction, with initial capacity expected in early 2027, and AMD has leased capacity at the site.
