Decker Creek
Decker Creek Power Station is a natural-gas-fired peaking and black-start facility located in Northeast Austin, Travis County, Texas. The station was developed by Austin Energy in phases from 1967 through 1978. The original configuration included two steam units and four gas turbines; the steam units (Unit 1 and Unit 2) were retired in 2020 and 2022 respectively. The four Pratt & Whitney FT4C-1 gas turbines remain operational, providing approximately 200 MW of capacity and capable of dispatch in less than 10 minutes. The station serves approximately 50,000 homes and is part of the ERCOT market region.
