Diablo Canyon is a two-unit nuclear plant near Avila Beach, California, owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a PG&E Corporation subsidiary. Its Westinghouse four-loop pressurized-water reactors have a combined capacity of 2,240 MW and have run since 1985 and 1986. On April 2, 2026 the NRC renewed the licenses to 2044 and 2045, but state law authorizes operation only through 2030. A $1.1 billion DOE Civil Nuclear Credit agreement supports extended operations.
