Constellation Energy Generation, LLC - Oswego County - NYISO

James A. FitzPatrick is a single-unit boiling-water nuclear reactor located in Scriba, Oswego County, New York, on the shores of Lake Ontario. Construction began in 1969, and the plant entered commercial operation on July 28, 1975. Originally developed and operated by the New York Power Authority in partnership with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, the facility was sold to Entergy Corporation in November 2000. Following a planned 2015 closure announcement, the New York Clean Energy Standard facilitated the plant's continued operation. Exelon subsequently transferred ownership to its subsidiary Exelon FitzPatrick, LLC in November 2017, and the plant was included in Constellation Energy when Exelon separated its generation business in February 2022. Constellation Energy Generation, LLC currently operates the facility. The plant's renewed NRC operating license (DPR-59, docket 50-333) expires October 17, 2034, with a subsequent license-renewal pathway available through 2054. The facility generates up to 842 MW of carbon-free electricity and is interconnected to the New York Power Authority transmission system at 345 kV.
