CEC staff approved a 2013 modification replacing two 21.5 MMBtu/hr natural-gas-fired, low-NOx auxiliary boilers with two heat-transfer-fluid electric heaters, lowering project emissions. The plant's primary electrical output is solar thermal; the CEC separately notes diesel firewater pumps and a diesel backup generator for essential power and fire protection.
