NextEra Energy Resources subsidiaries will contribute $200,000 to workforce development and $100,000 to local sustainability, distributed over 10 years. Historical cooling-water use was approximately 1,000 acre-feet per year; planned PV conversion reduces facility water use to less than 15 acre-feet per year and eliminates operational wastewater and heat-transfer fluid use

The former concentrating-solar-thermal facility (SEGS III-VII) generated cooling-tower blowdown containing concentrated salts and process wastewater. The Water Board states that the PV conversion will not generate operational wastewater or use heat-transfer fluid, and project documents describe the water-use reduction from approximately 1,000 acre-feet per year to less than 15 acre-feet per year.
