Pittsfield Generating is a 175.5 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Built originally as the Altresco Pittsfield cogeneration facility, the plant is now owned by the private-equity firm Hull Street Energy, LLC and operated day-to-day by Pittsfield Generating Company, LP. It runs almost exclusively as a peaking unit, dispatched only in periods of high regional electricity demand; its capacity factor fell to about 1.3% in 2023 before rising again in 2024. In 2025 the facility recorded hourly nitrogen oxide and ammonia emissions deviations that drew a Massachusetts DEP penalty, part of a broader pattern of Clean Air Act compliance issues at the site.
