Salina
Salina Pumped Storage Project is a hydroelectric pumped-storage plant with six operating generating units totaling 259.2 MW in Mayes County, Oklahoma. The facility is owned and operated by the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), the state agency that runs the Grand River hydro system. It was built in two stages, with the first three units completed in 1968 and the second three in 1971, doubling capacity to 260 MW. Water is cycled between the upper Lake W. R. Holway reservoir on Saline Creek and the lower Lake Hudson reservoir on the Grand River, pumping uphill at night and generating during peak daytime demand. GRDA filed a new FERC license application for the project, designated FERC Project No. 2524, in November 2013, and FERC staff issued a draft environmental assessment on relicensing in November 2014. The plant is typically dispatched as peaking capacity because its units can be brought online quickly.
