San Miguel is a single-unit lignite-fired steam plant in Atascosa County, Texas. EIA's May 2026 inventory reports 410 MW nameplate and 391 MW net summer and winter capability, with a January 1982 operating date. San Miguel Electric Cooperative owns and operates the plant and describes 391 net MW. The cooperative has received USDA New ERA support for a planned transition that includes 400 MW of solar and 200 MW of battery storage; those replacement projects are future scope and are not part of the operating coal unit's current capacity.
