School Street
School Street is a 38.8 MW conventional hydroelectric project on the Mohawk River in Cohoes, New York, spanning Albany and Saratoga Counties. The facility comprises five vertical-shaft Francis turbine-generator units located in a powerhouse downstream from a dam constructed in 1831. Electric generation began in 1916, with additional units added in 1922 and 1925. The project operates in run-of-river mode, with a power canal and penstocks that bypass over 4,500 feet of the Mohawk River, including the 65-foot Cohoes Falls. 2539) expiring January 31, 2047.
