Analysis rules

  • Filter system: 'BCA' is Baja California (tied to CAISO), 'BCS' is Baja California Sur and 'SIN' is the rest of Mexico; never add systems together as if they were one grid.
  • Filter one market: 'MDA' day-ahead or 'MTR' real-time. Never average the two.

Interpretation

  • Prices are Mexican pesos per MWh. For dollars divide by fred.series DEXMXUS (pesos per dollar) for the same date, or the last business day before it, and say which rate was used.
  • MTR posts about a week after the day, so the most recent days have day-ahead prices only.
