Overview

source_time is the file's actual publication timestamp, not its delivery-day filename; use the last pre-operating-day vintage for a settled forecast comparison and the latest available vintage for future hours.

Query contract

Use the latest source_time vintage for each target hour and zone. Use zone_name='NYISO' for the published system-total row.

Analysis rules

  • For a statewide or system-wide forecast, use zone_name='NYISO' directly; do not add it to component load-zone rows.
  • Do not sum forecast vintages.

Interpretation

  • P-7 is a no-losses load forecast, while actual load includes losses. The difference is not pure forecast error unless that basis difference is acknowledged.
  • For a realized target hour, use the last publication before the local operating day began. A later file is an after-the-fact revision and must not be presented as the settled forecast.
