Big Plain Solar, LLC is a 196-MWAC solar photovoltaic generating facility located on approximately 1,500 acres in Fairfield and Oak Run townships, Madison County, Ohio, near London. Owned and developed by Leeward Renewable Energy, the project uses First Solar advanced thin-film photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis tracking systems, with approximately 800,000 solar panels, 50 inverters, and a 34.5/138-kV collection substation. The project was approved by the Ohio Power Siting Board on March 18, 2021, and construction began in August 2022. Associated sustainable practices include a 70-acre pollinator habitat and soil health monitoring program.
