Chesterfield Power Station in Chester, Virginia is owned by Dominion Energy and has operated in Chesterfield County for more than 75 years. Its coal units are retired, the last in May 2023, leaving two gas and oil fired units, 7 and 8, rated about 400 MW net and in service since 1990. Dominion plans the Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center on the same property, four simple cycle turbines totaling up to 1,000 MW, which Virginia regulators approved in November 2025 with construction anticipated to begin in 2026.
