The Bernard F. Cleary-Flood Generation Station at 1314 Somerset Avenue, Taunton, Massachusetts comprises a natural-gas/oil-capable combined-cycle generation unit and a 3 MW/6 MWh lithium-ion battery energy-storage system. EIA generator records identify nameplate capacities of 95 MW (CA9 steam part), 23 MW (9A combustion-turbine part), and 3 MW (BS1 battery), totaling 121 MW. The facility is jointly owned by the City of Taunton (86.37%), Town of Hudson (4.54%), and Town of North Attleborough (9.09%), and is operated by Taunton Municipal Lighting Plant. Unit 9 participates in ISO New England energy, ICAP, and black-start markets. The battery system, installed March 2020 and supplied by NEC Energy Solutions as a GSS Grid Storage Solution with AEROS controls, reduces transmission and capacity costs during peak demand periods.
