Fox Energy Center
Fox Energy Center is a natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant with 618.8 MW of nameplate capacity across two combustion turbines and a steam turbine, located in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, near Kaukauna and Wrightstown. LLC, an entity then jointly held by subsidiaries of Tyr Energy and General Electric. Before that purchase, WPS had bought Fox's output under a long-term tolling and power-purchase agreement dating back to the plant's original commissioning, with Unit 2 entering service in June 2005 and Unit 1 in June 2006. The facility uses two GE 7FB combustion gas turbines paired with a heat-recovery steam turbine, and it cools using recycled water piped in from a nearby municipal sewage treatment plant. All three generating units remain in commercial operation, and no plant-wide retirement is scheduled. Fox sells into the MISO market, settling near Wisconsin Public Service price nodes such as WEC.PTBHGB1 and WEC.PTBHGB2.
