Genesis Solar Energy Project
NextEra Energy Resources LLC - Riverside County - CAISO
The Genesis Solar Energy Project is a 250 MW, two-unit concentrated solar thermal power facility in eastern Riverside County, California, approximately 25 miles west of Blythe. The facility uses parabolic-trough solar collectors (1,840 SENERtrough assemblies in 460 loops), heated thermal oil (Therminol VP-1), solar steam generators, steam turbine generators, and air-cooled dry cooling. Each unit is nominally 125 MW. The project occupies approximately 1,800 acres on Bureau of Land Management land and interconnects via an approximately 7-mile, 230-kV transmission line to Southern California Edison's Colorado River Substation. The facility is operated by Genesis Solar LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, and sells electricity to PG&E under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
