Holtwood is a 247.3 MW conventional hydroelectric project located on the Susquehanna River at river mile 25 in Lancaster and York Counties, Pennsylvania, operated under FERC License No. 1881. The original powerhouse contains 10 vertical Francis turbine-generators (Units 1–10) totaling 107.2 MW plus two 1.2 MW replacement Francis units (Units 11 and 13). The facility is registered as a PJM HydroNPS market resource and generated 833.4 GWh annually as of the 2025 reporting period. The project operates under a FERC license expiring August 31, 2030, and is undergoing relicensing through the Integrated Licensing Process.

PPL Holtwood announced completion of the new 125 MW powerhouse, which began commercial operation. The new facility increased plant generating capacity from approximately 108 MW to over 230 MW. The powerhouse includes two Voith vertical Kaplan turbine-generators (Units 18 and 19), described in the announcement as 62.5 MW each. The facility continues to include the original powerhouse with its operating generators.
