La Cygne

La Cygne is a two-unit coal-fired electric generating station located in Linn County, Kansas, approximately seven miles northwest of the town of La Cygne. Operated by Evergy Metro, Inc., the station comprises Unit 1 (873 MW nameplate capacity, commercial since June 1, 1973) and Unit 2 (725.9 MW nameplate capacity, commercial since May 1977), with combined nameplate capacity of 1,598.9 MW. The facility burns subbituminous coal (99.5% of fuel mix) and supplies power to the Southwest Power Pool balancing authority. Planned retirements are 2032 for Unit 1 and 2039 for Unit 2.
