Palisades Dam

Palisades Dam is a conventional hydroelectric power plant with four generating units and 176.4 MW of combined nameplate capacity in Bonneville County, Idaho. The dam is an earth-fill structure on the Snake River near the Wyoming border, completed in 1957 and owned and operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Power output is incidental to the dam's primary purposes of irrigation storage, flood control and recreation for the upper Snake River valley. In 1994 the four turbine-generators were rewound as part of a plant uprate, raising nameplate capacity to its current 176,600 kilowatt total. The dam and powerplant were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.
