Salem Harbor Station NGCC
Castleton Commodities International LLC (CCI) - Essex County - ISONE
Salem Harbor Station NGCC is an operating 798.2 MW natural-gas-fired combined-cycle power plant located at 24 Fort Avenue in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts, in ISO-New England's Massachusetts Hub. The facility consists of two independent 1×1 combined-cycle blocks, each comprising one General Electric 7F.05 gas turbine, one heat recovery steam generator, and one steam turbine generator, with duct-burner capability. The plant entered commercial operation in May 2018, replacing the former coal- and oil-fired Salem Harbor generating station that had operated for more than 60 years. Equipped with rapid-response technology, the plant can add approximately 300 MW to the grid within ten minutes and supplies electricity to over 280,000 residents. The facility is interconnected to the National Grid transmission system via a 117 kV connection through an on-site switchyard and receives natural gas via an Algonquin Gas Transmission pipeline. CCI (Castleton Commodities International LLC) acquired a majority stake in April 2023.
