Braes Bayou Plant
The Braes Bayou Plant is a natural-gas-fired simple-cycle combustion-turbine peaking facility located in Fort Bend County, Texas, southwest of Houston. (STEC), which acquired it in April 2026. The facility consists of eight aeroderivative turbine units with a total stated portfolio capacity of 384 MW. It is designed for operational flexibility, capable of reaching full load in approximately 10 minutes, and provides peaking generation and ancillary services to STEC's member cooperatives while supporting renewable energy integration and Texas grid reliability. The plant is interconnected to the ERCOT grid via CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC at 345 kV and operates under ERCOT market rules.
