D B Wilson
D.B. Wilson Station is a Conventional Steam Coal plant with 509.4 MW of nameplate capacity (417 MW net summer capacity) in Ohio County, Kentucky. The single-unit plant, located near Centertown, has been owned and operated by Big Rivers Electric Corporation, a member-owned generation and transmission cooperative, since it entered service in September 1984. Big Rivers describes Wilson as its main coal-fired plant, calling it a "critical" round-the-clock resource after retiring or converting its other coal stations. Wilson burns locally sourced bituminous coal and its fly ash and gypsum by-products are sold for concrete and drywall production. Big Rivers' wholesale power agreements with its three member-owner cooperatives, which Wilson helps supply, run through the end of 2043. No whole-plant retirement date has been announced for Wilson Station.
