GSG LLC is a 80 MW onshore wind turbine plant in Lee County. GSG Wind is an 80 MW wind project in Lee and LaSalle Counties, Illinois, owned by Leeward Renewable Energy. Developed by Leeward, it became operational in 2007 with 40 turbines across more than 3,000 acres. A repowering announced complete in January 2024 decommissioned those turbines and built 26 new GE Vernova turbines, generating 50 percent more energy with a smaller footprint. Verizon Communications signed a renewable energy purchase agreement for the project in January 2022.
