Merom
Merom Generating Station is a 2-unit, 1,080 MW nameplate coal-fired power plant on the Turtle Creek Reservoir in Sullivan County, Indiana, between the towns of Merom and Sullivan. Both units have been in service since the early 1980s and remain operating today, with no whole-plant retirement currently scheduled. The plant sells into MISO, settling at price nodes located right at the site (HE.MEROM1 and HE.MEROM2). Hallador now owns and operates the plant through its subsidiary Hallador Power Company, LLC, pairing it with its own Sunrise Coal fuel supply. In May 2026, Hallador signed a roughly $1 billion PPA with Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) to deliver 500 MW of Merom's capacity into MISO from September 2028 through May 2040, extending the plant's expected operating horizon well beyond the retirement date once announced for it.
