Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant is a nuclear station in Goodhue County, Minnesota, associated with the MISO registry. The EIA plant baseline lists 1,186.2 MW of nameplate capacity. Xcel Energy describes two units with 1,100 MW of combined capacity. On August 14, 2025, Xcel said the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission approved its application for increased spent-fuel storage; its separate planned Nuclear Regulatory Commission license-extension filing remains a future company action.
