Seminole (OK)

Seminole (OK) is an operating 1,701 MW natural-gas-fired steam-turbine power plant located at Konawa in Seminole County, Oklahoma. OG&E constructed the station in 1969 and expanded its cooling reservoir to create the 1,350-acre Lake Konawa. The facility consists of three natural-gas-fired Babcock & Wilcox El-Paso boilers, each paired with a steam-turbine-generator unit: Unit 1 entered operation in March 1971, Unit 2 in February 1973, and Unit 3 in June 1975. Each unit has a nameplate capacity of 567 MW. OG&E plans to retire the units individually—Unit 1 in early 2031, Unit 2 in early 2033, and Unit 3 in early 2035—after each completes more than 60 years of service.
