Vernon Boulevard
Vernon Boulevard is a regulated, two-generator natural-gas-fired combustion-turbine power plant at 42-30 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, Queens County, New York. It began operating in August 2001 with two General Electric LM6000 simple-cycle combustion turbines, each serving a 47 MW generator. The plant is owned and operated by the New York Power Authority, participates in the NYISO balancing area and energy markets, and uses Consolidated Edison transmission/distribution infrastructure at 138 kV. As of February 2026, NYPA confirmed the facility remained in its in-city generation portfolio and operated within its 79.9 MW Title V air-permit limit.
