Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center
The Christopher M. Crane Clean Energy Center, formerly Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1, is a single pressurized-water nuclear reactor located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on Three Mile Island in the Susquehanna River. Originally licensed in 1974 and renewed through 2034, the facility permanently ceased operations in September 2019 for economic reasons. Constellation Energy Generation, LLC currently owns and operates the unit and is pursuing NRC approval for restart. NRC licensing actions are underway, with Constellation targeting service restoration as early as 2027, pending regulatory approval and completion of component restoration and upgrades.
