Skipjack Solar Center
Skipjack Solar Center is a 175 MWdc utility-scale solar photovoltaic facility located in Charles City County, Virginia, on a former timber farm. The project consists of one generating unit equipped with more than 500,000 solar panels mounted on single-axis tracking systems. The facility is owned and operated by The AES Corporation through AES Distributed Energy and produces more than 350,000 MWh of solar power annually. Energy and renewable energy certificates are purchased by Constellation and sold to three major commercial customers: Johns Hopkins University, McCormick & Company, and TJX Companies. The facility is built on approximately 2,200 acres and includes agrivoltaic grazing partnerships.
