FERC Filer to Pipeline System Crosswalk (computed)

Maps each FERC company ID that files Form 549B (gas_pipeline_ebb.ferc_index_of_customers) to the pipeline system slug used across Ask the Grid's gas data, so a contract book can be joined to that pipeline's nominations, capacity, notices and map.

Overview

One row per company ID with pipeline_slug, the names the filer used (filed_names), its filed_rows and first and last quarter. The same company files under several IDs (a legacy number, a FERC company identifier such as C000020 from 2016, sometimes both), so one pipeline_slug can appear on several rows. pipeline_slug is set only where a filed name equals a registered system's legal name after case, ampersand and punctuation are normalised; every other filer, and any ID whose names match two systems, has a null pipeline_slug and is not guessed at. Many storage fields, gatherers and renamed filers are unmatched, so a null means unmapped, not not-a-pipeline. FERC's DATA_ERROR and blank IDs are excluded.

Query contract: Preserve one canonical row per (company_id) before aggregating.
Analysis rules: Join on company_id to gas_pipeline_ebb.ferc_index_of_customers and group by pipeline_slug, not company_id, since one pipeline can file under several IDs; count contracts with uniqExact over company_id and contract_number so a re-filed contract is not doubled.Use a LEFT JOIN and report the share of rows with a null pipeline_slug rather than dropping them silently.
Interpretation: A null pipeline_slug means unmapped, not not-a-pipeline: matching is exact on the normalised legal name, so a filer that renamed or differs by a word (a legacy spelling, LP against LLC) stays null.company_id comes in legacy numeric, C-prefixed and DATA_ERROR forms; DATA_ERROR and blank IDs are excluded here.

FERC Form 549B Index of Customers: Every Interstate Gas Pipeline's Firm ContractsFERC · Quarterly filings; checked daily, reloaded when FERC publishes	FERC Form 549B, the quarterly Index of Customers, for every interstate natural gas pipeline from the third quarter of 2013, as published on data.ferc.gov: about 146 pipelines and 6,000 shippers across the latest quarters, one row per firm transportation or storage contract and receipt or delivery point as of the first day of the quarter. Gives each contract's shipper, rate schedule, contract number, effective and primary-term expiration dates, whether the rate is negotiated, maximum daily quantity (MDQ), agent or asset manager, and the point (name, code, zone) with its own MDQ. Use it to find who holds firm capacity on a pipeline or into a zone, which contracts expire next, and which shippers serve a plant or delivery point. Keyed by FERC company ID (company_id, e.g. C000020 for Tennessee Gas Pipeline). Values are kept as filed: dates and quantities are text, units mix Dth, MMBtu and Mcf, and FERC's own DATA_ERROR flags appear in some cells. A contract appears once per point, and a quarter can hold an original and a revised filing. These are contractual rights, not metered flow, scheduled gas or available capacity. event_time is the quarter's first day. The dataset trails the filings by about a year.
Advanced MetersEIA · annual (report year)	EIA-861 advanced metering: AMR, AMI and other meter counts, AMI energy served and customer access, by utility and customer class. Advanced_Meters, one row per utility, state, balancing authority and customer class. customer_class is residential, commercial, industrial, transportation (direct_connected in the distributed generation tables) or EIA's own total, so summing classes without excluding total counts everything twice. event_time is 1 January of the report year. release is final or early_release: EIA posts an early release of a year in August and replaces it with the final file in the autumn, and the mirror keeps the newest row per key. A key cell EIA leaves blank is '' or 0, and duplicate_index numbers rows that still share a key, in workbook order.

Alberta (AESO) Price LocationsAESO · slow-moving dimension, refreshed every 6 hours	Every Alberta (AESO) location that carries a price, as three columns: location_id, name, and kind. 1 rows — system (1). This is the dimension the Alberta (AESO) price, and where applicable constraint, tables join to, and it is the one place a location's type is decided: resolve "which hubs exist", "is this a zone or a node", or "give me the readable name for this id" here rather than inferring a type from a name prefix. For Alberta, the one location_id is SYSTEM: the pool price (aeso.pool_price) and system marginal price (aeso.system_marginal_price) are system-wide and carry no location column. Alberta has no nodal, zonal or hub prices; do not look for one. Generating assets are identified by AESO asset code in aeso.unit_status and aeso.asset_list, not here. The same three columns exist for every market, so the equivalent question in another ISO is the same query against that ISO's table.
