Locational Based Marginal Price — NYISO's term for the price of electricity at a given location, reflecting energy, congestion and losses. It is New York's equivalent of the LMP used in other markets.
Limited transmission into the city, local generation that is more expensive to run, and reliability rules that require capacity to sit inside the load pocket. When the interfaces into downstate bind, the city clears well above upstate zones.
