Read CAISO real-time LMPs
The table ranks reporting locations by their latest published 15-minute RTPD prices, from highest to lowest. Locational marginal price is the marginal cost of serving another MWh at a location; the table and map retain the operator identifiers.
Compare price differences across the grid
Select a pricing location on the map, compare nearby prices, and investigate published demand, generation and constraint data. A price difference is a starting point for that investigation; the price alone does not identify its cause.
Questions
Is this the day-ahead or real-time price?
Real-time. This View shows CAISO's 15-minute Real-Time Pre-Dispatch (RTPD) LMP, not the day-ahead market clearing price.
What does the pricing node ID mean?
CAISO prices individual pricing nodes (PNodes) — generation, load, and trading hub points. This table lists live-priced nodes exactly as CAISO publishes them.
Why do CAISO prices go negative?
Midday solar output can exceed what the system can use or export, pushing real-time prices toward or below zero. It's a real, published price — not a data error — and it's a distinctly CAISO pattern next to ERCOT, NYISO, or PJM.
