ERCOT's latest generation by fuel, the same measure ERCOT's own fuel mix report publishes, in megawatts and as a share of the total.
Each month's share is that fuel's generation divided by all generation, battery charging excluded, from ERCOT's Fuel Mix Report. Months the report has not yet published come from ERCOT's 5-minute fuel mix and are marked provisional until it does.
Solar rises to an afternoon peak and drops away at sunset, wind often strengthens overnight, and gas and battery storage fill the gap as demand peaks in the evening.
Over a year, natural gas. In individual hours wind or solar can lead. The panel above shows the current leader and its share.
The monthly table above gives wind, solar and their combined share for every recent month, and the yearly table every full year since 2007. The share swings with the seasons: spring is windiest, and summer brings the most solar.
Only while batteries discharge. Charging draws power from the grid, so it shows up as demand rather than as negative generation.
