ERCOT's daily peak is the highest hourly total in its Actual System Load by Forecast Zone report (NP6-346-CD) for the operating day, in Central time, hour ending 1 to 24. Each value is the average load over a full hour. The instantaneous readings ERCOT also publishes run higher and are a different number.
Today's and tomorrow's peaks come from ERCOT's own seven-day load forecast, its latest issue. Today's hours so far are provisional: the mean of ERCOT's five-minute real-time load for each hour. A day's settled peak arrives with ERCOT's hourly report the following day.
As the highest hourly total in ERCOT's Actual System Load by Forecast Zone report (NP6-346-CD) for the operating day. Each hourly value is the average load across that full hour, in Central time. ERCOT's dashboards also show instantaneous load, which is higher and is not the same number.
When ERCOT publishes that operating day's hourly report, the following day. Until then the hours shown for today are provisional: the hourly mean of ERCOT's five-minute real-time load.
ERCOT's Actual System Load by Forecast Zone report (NP6-346-CD): the highest value in its TOTAL column for the operating day, as first published. This page reads that report directly.

The table of yearly peaks on this page lists the highest hour of every year since 2013 on this same hourly measure. Records quoted in the news are often instantaneous peaks, which run higher than the hourly figure.
The daily table pairs each settled peak with the peak ERCOT's own forecast showed before the day began, so the miss is visible day by day in megawatts.
